Happy Valentine's Day!

I wanted to take a moment to wish all who read here a very happy Valentine's Day. I hope it is full of love from all your friends and family. While many of us know we don't require the sweet treats often associated with this day, I think it's okay to have an indulgence once in awhile. There can never be enough love in this world of ours.

If you aren't already aware, today is also the 15th anniversary of a group called One Billion Rising. The cause of this group is to bring awareness to the fact that so many women are raped and beaten on a regular basis. While it may seem counter-productive on a day full of love for each other, I think they've chosen the perfect day to draw attention to the fact that 1 in 3 women will be raped or beaten in her lifetime - and it is completely unacceptable. Odds are, each of us know someone, or have ourselves been physically abused at some point with those kind of statistics. Physical assaults take place all over this globe, so we are all affected by this in some manner.

The purpose of "one billion rising" is to bring about a kind of revolution - a means to draw attention to something that seems to be swept under the rug. We might be individuals, but everyone of us can take a moment to rise up today (and every day). If you happen to live locally, Boulder is hosting an event for One Billion Rising starting at 3:30 until 5:30p this afternoon, located at: Avalon Ballroom, 6185 Arapahoe Road, Boulder 80301.

I hope you have a beautiful day full of love for all.
