Bicycle On the Horizon

After buying the Pashley last week, I've been on kind of a hunt for more of a bicycle that I feel I don't have to be so concerned about, more of a beater style bicycle. I've looked locally at 70s and 80s Schwinn's and on Ebay at several different makes and models of bicycles, but they always seem to want too much for a bicycle that I probably won't ride as often.

Today, I made an offer on a bicycle that I thought could be good for the purposes I've had in mind. I didn't think the owner would take my offer (which was well, well below the asking price), but they did, and apparently it's now on its way to me. Who new a Motobecane could be in my future?

I feel a little sick about it because I honestly didn't expect them to take the offer, but I guess I'll have a project on my hands if I want to make it look perfect, or can just ride it as is if I don't want to sweat someone taking it while parked somewhere.

Since we'll be making our mid-west bicycle/camping tour in a couple of weeks, I'm thinking I might actually feel more comfortable taking this one than the Pashley, because I don't really know the areas we'll be in, how safe they are and so on... but, I suppose it will have to get here before we leave, and I'll have to make sure that everything is in working order that doesn't require fixing.

Hopefully, the ill feeling will go away soon, and the happiness at finding what I was looking for will soon set in.

  1. I have to say, from the pictures, a very good looking bike.

  2. Well, I guess we will see shortly. I'm excited to see it in person, but nervous, as I really don't like the idea of getting a bike I can't ride first. I guess they only came in one size for the ladies/step though bikes, so I'm interested to see how it goes.
